User Feeling Object smartphone projects touch enabled images on flat surfaces

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 04:22 AM PST

Asmita Prasad:

Smartphones today are rewriting everything we knew about what a phone can incorporate within it in the new millennium and the User Feeling Object (UFO) smartphone concept by designer Jeong Jaewan takes the functionality of the modern multi-touch smartphone to the next level of creativity. Though most smartphone designs today try to offer the widest possible display, they still don't compare to tablets and laptops and people often need to carry more than one device to get their work done. To ensure a truly mobile computing and communication experience, the User Feeling Object smartphone concept comes with light touch technology and a flexible LCD that allows users to interact with a wider, projected image just like they do with a touchscreen display.

In its compact form, the screen of the User Feeling Object smartphone concept measures 65mm wide x 6.3 deep x 110 mm tall and is constructed in a plastic material. To use the phone in projector mode, the user simply has to fold it down the middle and project interacting image on a wall or a table or any other flat surface. This image would be able to respond to touch the same way a touch enabled display does.

The User Feeling Object smartphone concept can also be used to project images on a wider space like a wall, which can be used to make presentations via light touch interactivity. This display also works well for watching movies and videos since the user doesn't need to fiddle around on a small display to select files and adjust controls via light touch technology.

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 04:20 AM PST

Asmita Prasad:

Created by Sylvain Viau Design, the Private Yacht Concept is a sea vessel with a twist. The vessel is fashioned to have a very reasonable building cost while providing a luxurious yachting experience to owners and passengers. With generously large windows, the superstructure relies on geometrically intricate though simple shapes for the hull with a very neat surrounding to give the vessel a distinctly crisp sailing experience. Mainly oriented towards fuel and space savings, the Private Yacht Concept is different from rivals in the sharpness of design and clarity of purpose that it carries.

Dominating the whole ship is a wheelhouse and a wide helipad that gives the Private Yacht Concept a very organized looking layout from the top to the bottom. Wide windows around the Jacuzzi give passengers a soak panoramic view of the surrounding seascape with a sheltered sun deck opening into a big accommodation area. The owner’s suite sits stop a dedicated top deck with the VIP cabins and receiving lounges being situated in the main deck.

A fully equipped bath area can be fashioned out of the lower aft deck, which features wide doors along three sides on the large lazarette. Crew quarters and technical facilities are housed in the lower forward deck. The 89 meters wide Private Yacht Concept measures 17 meters at her widest and is propelled by a hybrid diesel electric engine with a maximum speed of over 18 knots.

The combination of electric and diesel generators provides electricity for propulsion as well as on-board domestic use and the Private Yacht Concept uses solar power to provide hot water for the showers and the Jacuzzi. Strategically placed insulation and energy efficient air conditioning equipment combines with on-board gadgetry based on latest technology to reduce power consumption to bare minimum.

Aiken Recumbent Tadpole Trike lets you live the journey

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 04:17 AM PST

Asmita Prasad:

Designed for long distance journeys, the Aiken is a recumbent tadpole or a trike with two steered wheels at the front and one wheel at the back. The word Aiken is taken from the language of southern Argentina and Chile-based Patagonian ethnic group called the Tehuelche tribe and literally translates into the word "to live." Thus in a more literal sense, the Aiken Recumbent trike is more of a philosophical endeavor that looks to create companionship with fellow riders on long distance cycling trips while living the journey through a traveling experience that brings the rider close to the nature with its comfortable operation and cruising speed.

Created by designer José Ignacio Martínez and his team of three, the Aiken Recumbent Trike was developed over a period of eight months and comes with a shock absorbent seating system and a custom made roomy saddlebag as well as a host of other high-end commercial parts including high end shifters, brakes and pedals. In the design process, concerns for the driver's comfort and safety played a key role and the vehicle was designed to optimize the two features for the rider.

The Aiken Recumbent Trike thus comes with a 13 speed gear system, one disc brake per wheel, reflective surfaces, headlights, rear view mirrors and an extremely cozy suspended seat that is matched to the smooth steering system and a lightweight and resistant frame to given the user an all-terrain, all-weather vehicle.

Exodus concept car to realize the dream of a high performance, green ride

Posted: 28 Feb 2012 03:32 AM PST

Nikonian Bar:

To visualize future technology we need to think ahead of our time. The concepts of tomorrow always arise from today's thinking. Thinking on the same lines, Christian Polanco from Guatemala has designed the Exodus, a high performance electric sports car that will populate the streets in 2045. The manner cars and driving are headed today, 2045 will have two classes of people wanting to drive a car- those who would want to get from one place to another for work and those who would want to have the sheer fun of driving a clean and superfast car. Making the driving experience memorable and responding to the needs of personal mobility in Shanghai, Exodus is a perfect vehicle that one would look up to for ecological friendliness.

Exodus
Exodus

At first glance, the car looks like UFO vehicle capable of traversing on land, water and air. There are many unusual and interesting things about this car. The most unique fact, however, is that it has derived its inspiration from the bio-luminescent life forms that inhabit oceans. These creatures create their own light to navigate darkness of deep waters and to communicate with other members of the sort. Similarly, the Exodus also uses light to connect with the environment and for sending messages to other cars.

The Exodus has three wheels and each of these wheels has an electric motor that provides awesome speed capabilities. The car exhibits fantastic aerodynamic design that maximizes fuel efficiency. It's a light sports car with the least possible air resistance. The tires are airless that are made up of compressed polymers with an internally reinforced structure. The outermost surface is made of rubber to provide better grip on asphalt and better speed on road. Each tire is built like a sandwich with the rim on one side and the electric motor with the wheel cover on the other.

Thermoplastic composite materials are utilized for the construction of the car so that the extreme velocities do not heat or damage the body. This new material is tougher, stiffer, lighter and recyclable. It also exhibits much better performances during collisions and in extremely demanding conditions and situations. An impregnable body, powerful motors, natural and creative design and a futuristic look make the Exodus a wonderful design to work on and build. Definitely a reason to ‘fast’ forward into the future!
